Joining a Group
Interested students should call CARE at (949) 824-7273 to identify group dates and times.  If the date and the time of the group is a match with your schedule, you will set up an initial interview with the group counselor.

During this interview, we will discuss your interest in the group, level of committment to the group, campus involvements, experiences that have led to your interest in the group, past therapy or group experiences, and what you are interested in offering to/receiving from the group.

If it is determined mutually that the group would be a good match for your needs and interests at the present time, the counselor will either inform you of your start date or will place you on the wait list for the next available opening.

Prior to this first interview, all students are required to fill out paperwork and it is requested that you arrive approximately 15 minutes early or print out and complete the forms at home before arriving.

The forms can be downloaded here:

  1. The Informed Consent for Counseling Services should be read and discussed with your counselor if you have any questions before you sign it.  Your signature indicates that you understand the nature of the services offered, and the limits of confidentiality and the fact that you are voluntarily requesting counseling services.  You will never be taped without your knowledge and consent.
  2. The Student Information Form provides us with your schedule and information to aid us if we need to reach you, as well as information regarding your status with Student Health and the reasons for which you are requesting to be seen.

  3. The Information Sheet is collected for our statistics and utilization data so that we can keep track of the general characteristics of the students who we are serving.

Your counselor will be happy to address any questions or concerns you may have about the forms.  We thank you for coming in and for helping us help you.
