UCI Flag Poles

On April 19th and 20th, 3,107 flags waved in the lawn by the UCI flag poles.  The number of flags represented 1/4 of the number of female students at UCI.  This is the number of women, according to national statistics, at UC Irvine that may be the victims of sexual assault or attempted assault before graduating from college.

This visual display is intended to raise awareness about the prevalence of sexual violence and encourage students, faculty and staff to stand up against such violence while looking for ways to reduce risk for themselves and others in the UCI community.
