Workshops and Trainings

 

Each quarter, CARE offers workshops on sexual assault, consent, abusive relationships, and healthy communication. Workshops can be requested and designed for a specific group's needs.

To request a workshop, please download the workshop request form and send it to mmount@uci.edu or send it via campus mail to Zot Code 2210.

CARE will work with groups to tailor a workshop to specific needs or groups may select one of the following workshops:

  • "Walking the Walk"
    Leads participants through the experience of a sexual assault, while providing information about resources and strategies for working with survivors.

  • "Good Sex"
    Explores the road to mutual sexual gratification including consent, setting boundaries and communication.

  • "Invisible Dangers"
    Provides information about rohypnol, GHB, and alcohol as related to sexual assault.

  • "The Fine Line"
    Explores the fine line of consent, particularly when alcohol is involved, and provides tangible examples of how individuals can ensure sexual consent with a partner.

  • "Lean On Me "
    Tangible strategies for helping a friend or loved one who has been sexually assaulted.

  • "Cultural Culprits"
    Looks at the reality of violence against women as well as how such violence is supported in our culture.

  • "Red Flags"
    Highlights the warning signs of an abusive relationship and provides resources for support.

  • Course Description: The Campus Assault Resources and Education (CARE) course in the Office of the Dean of Students is an individual or small group learning experience for students interested in applying their knowledge or interest in issues of sexual assault and intimate partner violence to real-world opportunities. Students will assist with tasks essential to the functioning of the program, including: marketing, budget, volunteering and programming. Additionally, students will develop a project based on their individual interests.

  • Course Description: Examines the causes and consequences of sexual assault including rape, incest, and child molestation, and efforts to eliminate sexual assault. Explores the impact of gender, media, and "rape culture." Analyzes the effects of assault on survivors and paths to recovery.
